Qatargas employees and contractors participated in a month-long blood donation drive, organised by the Company’s Medical Department in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), at the Qatargas Headquarters, Ras Laffan and Al Khor Community. Qatargas has been organising blood donation drives for the past 18 years, in cooperation with HMC. This year, approximately 380 Qatargas employees and contractors registered for the campaign, and a total of 273 units of blood was collected. As part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, Qatargas organises blood donation campaigns engaging the employees in a wide range of health awareness programmes and supporting the local health organisations. Blood donation helps save the lives of thousands of patients every year including those affected with cancer, haemorrhagic disorders, thrombocytopenia, and blood diseases. Blood donation is also an essential part of caring for both children and adults who are undergoing surgery, including organ transplantation, and of those requiring surgery as part of their treatment for diseases like cancer. In addition to helping the blood bank increase its supply of blood and blood components, Qatargas believes that such campaigns also help promote a culture of voluntary blood donation in the society.
